Stalin's Dacha

I.V. Stalin's Dacha is a unique historical residence located on the grounds of the "Zelyonaya Roshcha" sanatorium in the Khostinsky District of Sochi. Built in 1937 by architect Mir Merzhanov, this dacha became one of the leader's twenty private residences and has survived to this day almost in its original state. The main feature of the site is the authenticity of the interiors: here you can see genuine furniture, Stalin's personal belongings, marble fireplaces, stained glass windows, and even his billiard table. The building is executed in the style of Stalinist Empire with elements of neoclassicism, harmoniously integrated into a subtropical park and surrounded by tall trees that provided security and privacy. This place allows you to touch the history of the USSR, understand the lifestyle and preferences of one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century. An ideal choice for history and architecture enthusiasts and those interested in the Soviet era.

ℹ️Features of the dacha:

  • Interiors and exhibition: fully preserved setting of the 1930s–1940s; study, bedroom, living room, library with Stalin's personal books; absence of luxury in favor of functionality and strictness.

  • Architecture: a single-story building with a colonnade, terraces, and large windows facing the garden; use of natural materials (marble, wood, stone).

  • Landscape and atmosphere: a quiet, well-kept park of the "Zelyonaya Roshcha" sanatorium, century-old trees, silence, and a sense of isolation from the outside world.

  • Historical value: a site of federal significance, testifying to the period of Stalin's stay in Sochi and the making of important state decisions.
