Psakho River Canyon

Psakho River Canyon (Wet and Dry) 🌿 — a unique natural monument of the Sochi National Park, often referred to as the 'Lost World' of the Caucasus. The gorge is divided into two completely different yet equally impressive parts: the Wet Canyon, featuring a babbling stream, waterfalls, and centuries-old boxwood thickets, and the Dry Canyon — an ancient dried-up riverbed with high gray cliffs and fossils of marine creatures. This is a place where time seems to have stood still, allowing visitors to touch the pristine nature, feel the coolness of the stone vaults, and take incredible photos. An ideal choice for eco-tourism enthusiasts and those seeking small but vivid adventures!

ℹ️ Features:

Exhibits and Nature: The Wet Canyon amazes with turquoise pools, moss, and ferns on the vertical walls, while the Dry Canyon surprises with the whimsical shapes of weathered limestone rocks and the silence of the ancient gorge.

Location: A picturesque gorge of a left tributary of the Kudepsta River, surrounded by a relict forest, equipped with wooden walkways and trails for safe passage along the canyon floor.

Interactivity: Opportunity to walk through a narrow stone corridor, swim in the natural pools of the Wet Canyon (in the warm season), take atmospheric photo sessions, and learn about the region's geological history from guides.

Who it's suitable for:

Nature and Hiking Enthusiasts — A not-too-difficult but thrilling hiking route through pristine corners of the Caucasus, requiring no special mountaineering training.

Families with Active Children — An engaging adventure in the 'Lost World' that turns an ordinary walk into a real exploration with waterfalls and rock labyrinths.

Photographers and Aesthetes — Incredible stone textures, the play of light and shadow in the narrow gorge, lush green moss, and turquoise water create perfect shots.

Guests of Nearby Attractions — An excellent addition to a visit to Akhshyr Cave or SkyPark, allowing you to diversify your cultural program with natural landmarks.

📝 Practical Tips:

How to Get There: Vicinity of Galitsyno / Kazachy Brod village. By car: to the 'Psakho Canyon' checkpoint. From Adler railway station, take bus No. 131 to Galitsyno village, stop at 'Magazin' (Shop), then walk 3.5 km along Batayskaya and Ternopolskaya streets to the 'Psakho Canyon' checkpoint.

Comfort: Comfortable trekking shoes with a grippy, non-slip sole are mandatory (the rocks in the Wet Canyon are very slippery). It is recommended to bring a raincoat or change of clothes, as waterfall spray and high humidity may wet your things.

Ethics: It is forbidden to leave the marked trails, litter, break branches of the relict Colchic boxwood, or leave graffiti on the ancient rocks.

🗺️ Integration with Location: Nearby are Akhshyr Cave, SkyPark, a trout farm, and the 'White Rocks' canyon. From here, it is convenient to continue the route towards the mountain clusters of Krasnaya Polyana or have a picnic on the equipped meadows near the entrance.

Operating Hours: Daily, during daylight hours (it is recommended to plan your visit before sunset). During heavy rains or floods, access to the Wet Canyon may be temporarily restricted for safety reasons.

Entry: Paid. Buy a pass on the website of the Sochi National Park.
